Marine Transgression I: En Route

Gabe

A nice perk about working in the video game industry is that, assuming you are into video games at all, you are in the fortunate position of having your hobby almost entirely sponsored for you. If I could take a time machine back to 1989 and tell my five-year-old self that he would have stacks of games reaching his adult armpits, the elation incurred by this news would prompt myocardial infarction.

Which brings me to the Lesson of the Day. You are better off taking a blow to the paycheck and finding a job that you love than you are "making due" with a job you'd prefer to bludgeon with a section of PVC pipe. I knew this going into the working world, but I couldn't appreciate the lesson until I experienced it first hand. Believe me, you feel the difference when you wake up every morning, and that kind of sensation can't be replaced artificially with shiny things.

Love yourself by loving your job. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

The other half is grabbing the classified ads.
